The water tank lid and water tank should be cleaned routinely. Clean in a dishwasher if needed (top rack only) or do hand wash. To hand-wash, use a soapy, damp, non-abrasive fabric. No Keurig Select review is good enough without mentioning the descaling process. Allocate about 45 minutes for the descaling process. Empty out the water from the water tank. If using a Keurig water filter, detach it and set it aside.
STEP 1: Descaling Solution Rinse
Power the brewer off. Pour the whole bottle of descaling solution into the emptied reservoir. Then fill the emptied bottle with water and pour it into the tank. Power it back on. Set a large mug on the drip tray. Run a rinsing brew. Note: select the largest brew size.
STEP 2: Descaling Rinse And Repeat
Stop repeating the rinsing brew when adding water lights up. Keep the brewer idle for 30 minutes (power on). After that, discard any residual solution from the tank and rinse completely.
STEP 3: Fresh Water Rinse
Fill the water tank with fresh water but not over the MAX fill line. Set a large mug on the drip tray plate. Run a rinsing brew with the largest brew size. Do not use a pod.
