The Nespresso Vertuoplus machine comes in a nifty carrying box with a handle. It is neatly wrapped for protection in polystyrene. When you unpack the machine and you will find out right away that a square box is included inside. After opening the box, you will see that it consists of coffee capsules (special from Vertuo) for different cup sizes and with distinct flavors. This is a great complement if you want to get started right away.

The coffee machine is ideal for those who love cups of larger coffee. Please do remember, that you will need the special Vertuo capsules to make coffee with the machine. It is certainly a great-tasting coffee maker. If you appreciate a relatively hot coffee with an extra thick layer of foam this is the machine you are looking for; so let’s get into the Nespresso Vertuoplus Deluxe review.

What Is Nespresso?

Trading name Nespresso, under Nestlé Nespresso S.A., is an operating branch of the Nestlé Group. Based at Lausanne in Switzerland. Nespresso machines brew coffee and espresso from coffee capsules. They also utilize pods in machines for professional and home use.

It is a type of container that is made for single-use and pre-apportioned ground coffee beans. Sometimes with various flavorings. Once entered into the machine, the capsules get pierced and then processed. Then at high-pressure water is enforced against a heating component. Meaning that only a single cup quantity is warmed. Nespresso is priced as premium coffee, and by 2011 had more than 3 billion Swiss francs worth of yearly sales. The word Nespresso is coined from putting Nestlé and Espresso together.

All kinds of Nespresso coffee are roasted, grounded, and then encapsulated. And they are all being produced inside one of three factories (Avenches, Romont, and Orbe) in Switzerland. But the company sold this system of capsules and machines worldwide. De’Longhi and Breville are both companies that make Nespresso machines.

Nespresso VertuoPlus Deluxe Review: Key Features

Basket Size

VertuoLine capsules are in 3 different sizes for Nespresso VertuoPlus Deluxe users can prepare 5 different sizes of a coffee cup. This machine with laser technology can read the barcodes on the rim of the coffee capsules. Hence, it can automatically know which cup size it has to brew.

Beverage Size

The in-built laser technology recognizes the kind of capsule and starts brewing according to the appropriate size. The VertuoLine capsules give you 4 different espresso and coffee cup sizes. The measurements are espresso 40mL (1.35oz), gran lungo 150mL (5oz), double espresso 80mL (2.7oz), and alto 414mL (14oz). You can also fit a coffee mug 230ml (7.77oz).

However, these sizes are modifiable and also reprogrammable to suit the user’s desired size of the drink. To reprogram a certain type of cup size, you just have to put a capsule inside the machine. Then press the on/off button. Keep pressing the button until the fitting amount of coffee has been poured into your cup.

Weight

The Nespresso VertuoPlus Deluxe machine weighs around 10 lbs. This makes the machine quite comfortable to handle and lift. However, as the control panel and both the capsule and water containers are situated either on the sides or on top of the machine, it is quite unlikely that your Nespresso Vertuoplus Deluxe coffee machine will require to be moved around much.

Unit Size

Depending on the two models by Delonghi and Breville, VertuoPlus Deluxe can offer somewhat different dimensions. While the height of the machine remains the same at 12.8 inches, depth and width can change.

With the water tank located on the side, this machine can give a width from 8.7 inches to 9.1 inches. And the depth can be from 12.7 inches to 13.2 inches. On the other hand, when the water reservoir is positioned at the back, the machine’s width can reduce down by 3 inches. But it increases the depth by about 4 inches.

The cap of this machine also requires some excess space to open up. This takes up an extra 2 inches in height.

Milk Frother

The Nespresso VertuoPlus Deluxe comes with a milk frother known as the Aeroccino3 Milk Frother. It provides hot or cold milk froth with one touch. You can choose any kind of milk for your coffee because it can froth any type of milk in a few seconds. Also, Aeroccino works in silence (without noise or vibration).

Pressure Gauge

Nespresso Vertuo Plus does have a pressure pump that is capable of providing 19 bar pressure. It helps this machine to make coffee that is both creamy and rich.

Water Reservoir

Nespresso VertuoPlus Deluxe gives you water reservoirs of 2 different sizes. Breville’s version of VertuoPlus Deluxe comes with a 40oz of water reservoir. Whereas DeLonghi’s VertuoPlus Deluxe version comes with a bigger water reservoir of 60oz. In both versions, the water tank is easily detachable.

In the case of wanting to fill or clean the reservoir with water, you will be able to easily detach it just by pulling it upwards. The water reservoir is made in a cylindrical shape. It lies on a separate platform. That allows you to alter its position from the backside of your machine to the side of your machine.

Additional Features

In our Nespresso Vertuoplus Deluxe review, you will see that the additional features are incredibly similar across all the Nespresso Vertuo models. Just like its less expensive versions, Vertuoplus Deluxe seems to have the same central traits:

VertuoPlus Deluxe can automatically detect your desired blend of coffee blend and can adjust the brewing likewise. The machine has laser technology for reading barcode systems. It recognizes both the coffee blend and the cup size of each capsule. The Nespresso Vertuo Deluxe is a product of laser class 1.

Has the ability to fully extract coffee by blending coffee and water through the patented technology of Centrifusion. Nespresso Vertuo plus coffee and espresso series models all consists of Centrifusion. It’s developed by Nespresso which is a patented extraction technology. It means that in the brewing cycle inside the machine, capsules spin with 7000 rotations per 60 seconds. It makes sure that coffee and water are fully blended. And that also makes the prime crema on top of your coffee.

Even though the cup size is automatically detected, you can still adjust the coffee and water to my likeness. In spite of pre-modeled coffee and water volumes, we were able to easily alter them according to our preferences during our experiment for the review. All we had to do is put a capsule inside our machine. Then, we pressed the on/off button. We had to keep pressing it down until we reached the desired amount of coffee in the cup. From that moment on, every single time we introduce this specific type of capsule into the machine, we were getting the same quantity of coffee.

Great attributes for ecologically aware customers. Automatic power-off mode after 9 minutes. The machine turns off itself after being idle for 9 minutes, in order to conserve energy.

Its container can also save up to 10 big empty capsules. Even though this model compared to the Nespresso Veruto is slightly larger, it can actually store less used capsules.

Recycling program for coffee capsules. Nespresso sends customers UPS bags that can be stuffed with used capsules. They drop in free of charge at any UPS center for this collection. They collect and send them back to Nespresso for recycling.

Nespresso Vertuo Plus Deluxe Review: Pros & Cons

What We Like

The reviews for the Nespresso Vertuoplus Deluxe coffee machine came after reviewing other Nespresso machines. All three of them appear to be rather similar, with some minor differences. What they do have in familiarity is ease, innovation, and convenience.

There are some ways in which Vertuoplus Deluxe can be differentiated from Nespresso Vertuoplus. The key differences are as follows:

  1. Five different programmable cup sizes (Including mug)
  2. Minimalist and simple but modern design
  3. The container can store 10 used capsules max
  4. Easy to handle, comes with a single-touch operation
  5. Innovative laser technology for reading the barcodes from capsules
  6. Vertuoplus Deluxe has a little bit larger removable water tank (DeLonghi makes it 60 oz). But can also have a smaller water reservoir by Breville with 40 oz.
  7. Vertuoplus comes in more casual choices of color palettes such as white, blue, and red. But Vertuoplus Deluxe was given a modern aesthetic with shades of grey and black
  8. Vertuoplus Deluxe is pretty fast when it comes to heating up water. 15 to 20 seconds against 20 seconds for Vertuoplus

What We Don’t Like

  1. Does not allow ground coffee or K-cups
  2. Used cheap plastic to make this machine’s body
  3. Limited only to the use of pods from the VertuoLine
  4. Some customers complained about the leakage issue of the machine
  5. Vertuoplus Deluxe is more expensive compared to any other Nespresso machine. Yet no significant additional value from the predecessor Deluxe version
  6. A lot of conflicting information about the versions (Breville and DeLonghi) of The Nespresso Vertuoplus Deluxe coffee and espresso machine on the internet

VertuoPlus Deluxe: Care And Maintenance

Cleaning

The cleaning process of the Nespresso Vertuoplus Deluxe coffee maker is quite simple. This model after each use dumps the used capsules in the capsule container. All you have to do is lift up the lid of the capsule chamber. We recommend taking the used capsules out of the chamber after each time your brewing is complete.

The machines’ exterior should be regularly cleaned with a damp fabric. The drip tray and the capsule container should be washed daily with water. Avoid putting it in the dishwasher.

The machine has an automated self-cleaning mode that can be initiated. Press the on/off button over a 2 seconds period 3 times. An orange light will blink during the cleaning cycle. Which can take around 5 minutes. The cleaning cycle can be halted at any time. Just press down the on/off button once.

During this cycle of cleaning, the machine through its inner system runs clean water. Then through the pouring outlet throws it out. During this process, you have to ensure that you have installed a recipient beneath the pouring outlet. So that the outlet can collect the dumped water.

Descaling

This machine also has a descaling alert. The light will turn green and signal simultaneously. The machine can only be utilized a couple of more times after the alert turns on. In that situation the descaling becomes compulsory. To descale the Nespresso VertuoPlus Deluxe coffee and espresso machine, you just have to follow the simple steps explained in the user’s manual. We advise you to apply only recommended descaling solution and not use any type of vinegar for descaling this particular machine.

Customer-Reported Technical Issues

The Nespresso VertoPlus Deluxe review went through some practical alterations before and after its original release date. We have personally not faced any hitches or problems with the unit. The machine comes with a one-year warranty, which seems to be a standard length of warranty period these days. One of the frequent issues customers have reported about this machine is coffee or water leakage from underneath the machine. Hope the manufacturers will look into it.

To Whom It’s Perfect For

We take pride in our honest product reviews. There will be no exception this time around too with our Nespresso Vertuoplus Deluxe review. Because the features are incredibly similar, we would go and recommend you least expensive De’Longhi/Breville Nespresso Vertuo version, if you are trying to save some bucks. However, Nespresso VertuoPlus Deluxe can be an excellent selection for the following reasons:

  1. A modern machine that applies a barcode system to customize the coffee brewing process
  2. Coffee lovers of single-serve coffee machines crave to bring an upgrade to their machine
  3. A kit that welcomes you with 12 different single-serve coffee capsules with individual aroma profiles

To Whom It’s Not Perfect For

We strive to remain honest throughout our Nespresso VertuoPlus Deluxe review. In our humble opinion, Nespresso Vertuoplus Deluxe is quite similar to its sister versions of Vertuo and Vertuoplus. Even with the aeroccino3 milk frother, Nespresso Vertuo is still the least expensive option than either of VertuoPlus Deluxe or VertuoPlus models.

In addition to the aforementioned argument, we believe that there are a couple of examples where VertuoPlus Deluxe might not be a prime choice for you:

  1. It does not use ground coffee
  2. Coffee capsules do not have wide availability
  3. Capsules are aluminum and the machine contains plastic
  4. Standard Nespresso pods are non-compatible with this model
  5. Users who like ownership and flexibility in the coffee brewing procedures
  6. Although this machine is a solid performer, there are better alternatives for the lower or same price
